And the Winners Are... Us!

JANUARY 14, 2003 — Who would have predicted that three hockey players from Minnesota would walk away with the Best Supporting Actor Award at the DVD Premiere Awards show? Too bad Joan Rivers wasn't there to comment on our tuxedos courtesy of Pierre Salvatoré Armé.

Here's a picture of us with Louis our limo driver (he moonlights as an executive at Universal Studios).

And the Nominees Are...

JANUARY 13, 2003 — Out of more than 500 eligible titles, 500 DVD Premiere Academy members winnowed 225 nominees in 23 categories down to the winners. Slap Shot 2: Breaking the Ice has received nine nominations, to tie with Gang Tapes for the most nominations for a live action movie.

So after 26 years in the movie business and two films later, we finally know what it feels like to say, "It's an honor just to be nominated," because we've been nominated in the Best Supporting Actor (in a DVD premiere movie) category. We never thought we'd hear our names mentioned along with Joe Don Baker, Gary Busey, Steve Buscemi, David Hemmings, and Jeremy Piven after the presenter says, "and the nominees are... " Congratulations to everyone involved in Slap Shot 2 including our fellow nominees:

Best Live Action DVD Premiere Movie - Ron French
Best Actor (in a DVD premiere movie) - Stephen Baldwin
Best Actress (in a DVD premiere movie)- Jessica Steen
Best Supporting Actor (in a DVD premiere movie) - Gary Busey, David Hemmings
Best Director (in a DVD premiere movie)- Steve Boyum
Best Cinematography (in a DVD premiere movie)- Joel Ransom
Best Editing (in a DVD premiere movie)- Craig Bassett

The best part is not only are we nominees, we're presenters, too! It's a big event and after "Hat Trick" one of our favorite two word combinations in the English language is, "Open Bar."
