MARCH 17, 2002 – Mark March 25, 2002 down on your calendar as another great day for hockey! We're going to Toronto, Ontario for the premiere gala screening of Slap Shot 2: Breaking the Ice and to participate in the unveiling of the Slap Shot display at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Good thing we saved our cool tuxedos.

“The Hockey Hall of Fame is excited to unveil the Slap Shot exhibit and to be hosting this fantastic premiere screening in support of Spinal Cure Research,” says Hockey Hall of Fame Curator, Phil Pritchard. “We have joined forces with Universal Studios to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of one of the great hockey films of all time, Slap Shot, and to promote the release of Slap Shot 2: Breaking the Ice on video and DVD in Canada.”

The gala event is a fund raiser with proceeds going to Shoot For A Cure, a hockey-focused campaign of the American and Canadian Spinal Research Organizations, which is directed at and led by the hockey community. “This is going to be a great fund raising event for spinal research, and we are honored to be a part of it,” says Canadian Spinal Research Organization President, Barry Munro.

Slap Shot 2: Breaking the Ice on DVD includes a making-of segment, interviews with us, production notes, and cast and filmmaker biographies The Slap Shot 25th Anniversary Special Edition DVD includes feature commentary by us, an interview titled “Puck Talk with the Hansons,” and a special feature: “Hanson Brothers Classic Scenes” which allows direct random-access to our favorite scenes – the ones featuring us! The VHS version of Slap Shot has a huge bonus: a restored soundtrack from the original theatrical release.

JANUARY 9, 2002 – Slap Shot 2: Breaking the Ice will debut in both DVD and video format on March 26, 2002. The DVD includes interviews with the Hanson Brothers plus a nifty "behind-the-scenes" segment called "Behind the Glass."

The year 2002 also marks another momentous achievement in the history of film making; the 25th anniversary of the release of Slap Shot. To commemorate this auspicious event, we were asked to make a new commentary for the 25th Anniversary Special Edition DVD (in order to capture the spirit of Old Time Hockey).

By the way, don't miss the breakout performances of NHL superstars Dave Babych and Chris Chelios and some guy named Barry "The Yapper" Melrose.

Jessica Steen is the new coach of the Chiefs (she's much prettier than Paul Newman) and Stephen Baldwin is our new captain (he's not as pretty as Paul Newman).

Slap Shot 2 - The Rumors Are True!

MARCH 26, 2001 – Jeff, Steve, and Dave are on location "puttin' on the foil" for the long awaited sequel to the most popular hockey film of all time, 1977's Slap Shot! The Hanson Brothers were called up to Vancouver, British Columbia on March 26, 2001 to bring the grit, determination, and character of veteran players back to the Charlestown Chiefs.

As the only returning members of the beleaguered hockey club, the fate of the Chiefs again hinges on the skills of our heroes. Stephen Baldwin, Callum Keith Rennie, Jessica Steen, Dave Babych, David Lewis, and Gary Busey are but a few friends and foes the boys encounter in the continuing saga of hockey's favorite line.

Producer Ron French assembled a front office team dedicated to making this effort just as satisfying and fan friendly as the original. Director Steve Boyum's twenty five years in the film industry include involvement in the action packed favorites True Lies, Patriot Games, Lethal Weapon 2 and 3, Thelma and Louise, George of the Jungle, Jingle All the Way, Predator, The Blues Brothers, and Groundhog Day.
